2019 Iverson Scholarship Recipient
The Council is proud to present the 2019 Iverson Scholarship to Christina Mitchell. A Buffalo, N.Y. native, Ms. Mitchell is currently down south pursuing a PhD at North Carolina State University, studying Entomology and focusing her thesis on the effect of non-native vegetation on arthropods and birds in urban forests. Apart from her responsibilities as a Graduate Research Assistant, Christina devotes her time to the NCSU Entomological Association, the NCSU Chapter of Roots & Shoots, and has previously volunteered with the City of Raleigh, N.C. performing Invasive Plant Removal.
Christina’s devotion to and passion for ecology, specifically the fields of entomology and invasive species, exudes the mission of the NC-IPC makes her the ideal recipient of the 2019 Iverson Scholarship Award. We applaud her efforts and are excited to present the scholarship in support of her continued research and pursuit of a doctorate. |
Scholarship Application
NC IPC is pleased to provide a $1,000 scholarship to encourage students to pursue a graduate degree, and support research in the area of invasive plant science. Students investigating any aspect of invasive plant science are eligible.
