Recipients Tom White, Service Forester with the NC Forest Service and Jeremy Callicutt, Assistant County Ranger with the NC Forest Service are pictures above.
They were recognized for their diligence of noticing Cogongrass during a routine inspection of forest land for a landowner and then reporting the location to the proper state authorities. The action taken by Tom and Jeremy is a great example of Early Detection and Rapid Response (EDRR). Authorities confirmed the identification of the infestation as Cogongrass and immediately implemented a strategy to treat it and complete a delimiting survey to ensure the infestation was not spreading. In addition to the Certificates, Tom and Jeremy were also presented with a $50 check from NC-IPC.
Congratulations and keep up the good work guys!
