Inaugural Joint Symposium of the SE-EPPC Carolina Chapters

This event is co-hosted by both Carolinas.

It's been said if one is good then two are better.....   and we are going to prove that.

Our 2019 Symposium will be near the state line:
Hilton Garden Inn, Gastonia, NC
March 27-29

Departing from our typical 2-day format this year's event will span three days.  Here is a summary of the format:
  • Wednesday, begin at 1PM and end day with social.
  • Thursday, presentations in the AM and fieldtrips in the PM.
  • Friday, presentations and panel discussion in the AM with closing remarks by noon.

This event promises the best from both sides of the line.  Recruiting speakers from both North and South Carolina the line-up will cover vegetation management projects, management and mapping tools, plant science, will demonstrate how to organize group efforts and more.  See below for full agenda.

A networking opportunity for all; ample time is worked into the program to allow for mingling and for vendors to promote products and services.

Vendor booths (see vendor/sponsor info below) and display areas for non-profit groups are available.

Field trips:
In the afternoon of the second day you will have the choice of participating in one of the field trips.  See agenda for field trip options.

Wednesday Evening Social:
A sponsored reception will be held on site from 5-7 to round out the first day of the symposium.

Silent Auction:
This is a traditional component of the annual symposiums for both Carolina Chapters.  Donations of just about any kind will be accepted into the silent auction....  handmade/homemade items give a special touch but there are no restrictions.  Vendors, you are welcome to donate examples of the products/services you provide (physical items/coupons/gift certificates/etc.).

SC-EPPC uses funds raised by the silent auction to support their grant program.  This is a competitive grant whereas proposals are reviewed and the two proposals deemed to provide the greatest impact each receive $1,000.  SC-EPPC entertains proposals from communities, landowners and non-profit organizations who are managing invasive plants.

NC-IPC uses funds raised by the silent auction to support the Iverson Scholarship Fund.  A $1,000 scholarship is offered annually to students conducting invasive plant research, pursuing a degree in vegetation management, land conservation, or closely related studies.
