The North Carolina Invasive Plant Council invites abstract submissions for contributed oral or poster presentations for the 2016 NC-IPC Annual Symposium. PDF of call for abstracts.
The symposium will be held March 10th-11th at the Catawba College, Salisbury, NC.
Deadline for Abstract Submissions: January 29th, 2016
Program Topics: Submissions are welcome for any area of invasive plant species investigation, including but not limited to:
Instructions for abstracts:
Abstracts should be submitted using MS Word, and include the following information:
Oral presentations will be limited to 25 minutes; a 5 minute question and answer session will follow each presentation.
An LCD projector/computer and laser pointer will be provided. Only PC-based PowerPoint presentations will be accepted.
All presentations that include externally run programs or special animations must be reviewed and approved by the Program Chair prior to the meeting. Presenters may not set up a personal computer for their presentation.
Submit abstract to [email protected]. Notification of acceptance or rejection will be emailed to author(s) by Feb-8, 2016.
All accepted abstracts will be assembled into proceedings, printed and provided to conference attendees.
Event benefits and features:
All natural resource professionals and students will benefit from the information exchange and networking opportunities afforded by this event. CEUs will be offered in several categories. This event will feature research and management updates, a vendor display, a welcome reception/social and a silent auction.
Venue:
The 2016 Annual Symposium will be held at the Catawba College in Salisbury, NC on Thursday, March 10th through Friday, March 11th.
Posters & Student Poster Competition:
Posters should be no larger than 40” by 60”. Easels and backing will be provided.
Posters may have multiple authors.
Posters will be judged based on scientific merit, design, and poster discussion with judges during scheduled poster session.
Awards will be offered as follows: 1st place - $150; 2nd place - $100; 3rd place - $50.
Registration:
Registration opens on Jan-11 and fees are as follows:
$65 (includes annual membership to NC-IPC)
$40 for students (with valid student ID)

NC-IPC will consider requests for travel/lodging assistance on a case by case basis. Include your specific request(s) with your abstract submission.

- Full name and professional title of the author(s), affiliation(s), mailing address(es), phone number(s), and email address(es).
- Abstract body (300 words or less)
- A brief biography of the presenter (for introduction purposes)
- Student poster competition entry (indicate if yes)
